Sonic WalkScape
Presenti Mai Assenti
Claviere — Montgenèvre · 2024
Site-specific sonic walkscape created in Claviere, the last Italian village on the border with France.
Using a simple smartphone app, participants follow geolocated points on a map along an easy stretch of a migration route travelled by thousands of illegalised people every year. The walk is an immersive experience, composed of sounds, field recordings, Mediterranean songs and poems by Rahma Nur, overlapping with the sound of one’s footsteps and the surrounding landscape.
The intent of this soundwalk is to engage participants in an active process of witnessing and memorisation, ensuring that the stories and voices of people compelled to migrate in search of freedom remain ever present, never absent.
